Speedware Joins Midrange Alliance Program

Company Specializes in Legacy Modernization Services for AS/400 Customers

Montreal, Quebec (May 5, 2009) -- Speedware Ltd., a leading provider of IT modernization solutions, today announced its membership in the Midrange Alliance Program (MAP), a community of software vendors, service providers and hardware manufacturers working together to bridge the gap between midrange computer systems and the Microsoft Windows and .NET platforms.

For over a decade, Speedware has been dedicated to helping companies modernize their business applications, while offering a variety of automated migration tools designed to reduce the risk and effort involved in migration. Legacy modernization projects are performed to resolve the current challenges facing organizations operating critical business functions on legacy platforms. For the midrange market, these challenges include the increasing cost for maintenance, licenses and support of legacy systems, the complexity in integrating applications with other platforms and the increasing shortage and high cost of resources experienced in legacy applications. By moving to open computing platforms, enterprises are able to increase their business performance, agility and competitiveness while reducing ongoing operating costs.

“Companies running their businesses on HP e3000 and AS/400 midrange servers have had to deal with issues such as end-of-life hardware and software support, difficulties in integration as well as the maintainability of their systems. With our extensive experience in migrating midrange systems, Speedware and MAP are a natural fit to provide modernization options that remove the risks associated with these challenges,” said Christine McDowell, Manager of Strategic Migration Alliances at Speedware. “By joining MAP we show our customers that we are committed to helping them leverage the value of their mission-critical legacy applications while transitioning them to Windows platforms quickly and helping them reduce the IT risk to their business.”

“We are pleased to welcome Speedware as the latest MAP partner,” said Scott Rosenbloom, director, Midrange Alliance Program at Microsoft. “With their extensive modernization experience, integration services and automated tools, Speedware provides added value to existing MAP members and customers interested in moving from legacy systems to the more agile and cost-effective Microsoft platform.”
