Technically, Speedware has and will continue to invest in certifying that their products are succcessfully operating within specific third-party vendor environments. These environments include DBMS's, operating systems, various software drivers and any other supporting software. The certification process is strongly based on testing the specific Speedware and third-party products and versions within specific platforms. Generally, as Speedware and third-party products continue to evolve, so would the specific certification combinations. The timing of this evolution can depend on several factors. Some of these are the release state of the third-party product, the development stage of the Speedware product at the time when the corresponding third-party product is considered stable and generally available, and the backward/forward compatibility of the third-party product. As is the widely accepted practice among software vendors, the certification evolution follows a forward direction and will not continue to encompass any prior combinations of products and versions.
Having said all this regarding official certification, there remains one important issue concerning combinations that have not expressly been certified. Speedware maintains that their products should continue to operate in a forward compatible manner with subsequent third-party product versions provided that the third-party products officially certify forward compatibility between the versions in question. Any issue arising that contradicts this expectation should be brought to the attention of Speedware and the third-party vendor who together may arrive at an appropriate course of action in dealing with the matter. This of course applies provided that Speedware has not taken an official position to drop support of the third-party product in question.
